Lechmere | Green Line
Blow your mind, not your wad
By LIGAGY TICHY
Zipping toward Lechmere on the Green Line usually marks the pilgrimage to the CambridgeSide Galleria [100 CambridgeSide Pl., Cambridge. 617.621.8666. cambridgesidegalleria.com]. Little did we know there's motivation to hit the tracks beyond a sale at H&M and the opening of a new Sephora. Read on, folks, read on ...
Tucked into bordello-meets-art deco Hotel Marlowe [25 Edwin H. Land Blvd., Cambridge. 617.868.8000. hotelmarlowe.com] lies Bambara [25 Edwin H. Land Blvd., Cambridge. 617.868.4444. bambara-cambridge.com], a rather swanky affair to which Kathleen M slaps five stars, deeming it a venue "to impress without breaking the bank." But it was really Keith D's praise of barkeeper Drew's Bloody Mary ("the best I've ever had!") that really notched out this spot on our brunch list.
For a visceral, visual experience, dash over to the Mugar Omni Theater in the Museum of Science [One Science Park, Boston. 617.723.2500. mos.org]. Expect total, brilliant immersion via its wraparound dome screen and mighty sound system. "I thought my eyes were going to explode," confirms Jessika D.
Cross the highway and secure a patio table at Lingo [15 Monsignor O'Brien Highway, Cambridge. 617.619.2400] with views of the river and the illuminated Zakim Bridge. Considering it's situated at the bottom of the Education First office building (as described by Devon W, "like drinking at the school cafeteria") we're surprised to read that Oliver S declares, "If you're looking to hook up with a hot single chick, this should definitely be your first stop." And the drinks are cheap like whoa.
