Intern stalkerazzi at the Hard Rock opening

By keith howard on Wed, Aug 8, 2007 4:08 pm

Last night, the new Hard Rock Café in Faneuil Hall kicked off its grand opening—with a host of unshaved C-list celebrities swaggering in late and vanishing early near an enormous ice sculpture of an Absolut Vodka bottle. Classy.

Aaron Lewis’ solo performance was the best part of the show--even Joey Kramer from Aerosmith described his sound as good music: “He’s got a great voice,” he said. Accosted afterwards, he continued: “I think this is the best music scene in the country, mainly because it’s home.”

Joey’s longtime buddy, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from RUN DMC, put in an appearance to announce that his upcoming album will be the next greatest record in hip-hop history, and to dole out some matching indiscriminate praise.

"All the rockers here are like a big family,” he said. “They kind of accepted me. It’s a great family to be in.”

That family, which also included Click 5, Scott Ian from Anthrax, a New Kids on the Block member, one of the guys from Harry Potter and two members from Extreme, posed for pictures in a straggly man-hug in front of a wall plastered with the Hard Rock logo. Inside, Keith Richard’s guitar mounted on the wall served as another reminder: that all great music eventually becomes part of a huge promotion gimmick. So why not buy overly priced drinks to commemorate the occasion?

Attention Artists! Stop the Orphan Act!

By weeklydig on Mon, May 5, 2008 12:23 pm

Two bills were submitted to congress at the end of April — one to the House and one to the Senate — called the Orphan Works Act of 2008. Congress is looking to have this act passed and signed into law by George Bush by June 8, 2008, less than two months after it was introduced.

In a nutshell, this act may put many of you creative people in a tight spot when it comes to copyrighting your images and jeopardize long term royalties.
