I want to learn how to rock climb. PLain and simple...I am athletic, I am willing to try something new, but I am not an expert at rock climbing. Belaying? Is that another way to cook fish? WRONG...with a quick google I found out that bolaying is the reason why we do not see rock climbing accidents all over the news. They are the partners who hold the ropes as some one attempts a climb...or if you just want to testyour luck, try bouldering..no rope..no thank you!
How much are lessons I asked...well when you are a young adult, living paycheck to paycheck...probably expensive, or something that would make me think twice about my new found goal to scale a wall. Interesting though when the google results showed up..."Your $25 registration includes a complimentary beginner class..."BINGO! Listen Up:
On Sunday, August 23 Rock Spot Climbing in Boston is hosting its first climb-a-thon to benefit Ovations for the Cure. All levels are welcome (ME)...with the registration of $25, each participant will recieve a free lesson before or during the event...And...you are supporting a good cause!!Even better...
Pledges? Sure, why not, isn't that was a climb-a-thon is all about...you can get people to sponsor your climb...I will need a lot more than sponsors, I think I am going to need a ladder.
I was so impressed with the Liberty Hotel and the amazing rotunda and lobby bar. The atmosphere is crazy, not to mention the crowd it draws. Do they ever hold special events I wondered...
Did some googling and saw that the Liberty Hotel is hosting a fashion show on Saturday, May 2nd with Carmen Marc Valvo, to benefit Ovations for the Cure. I can only imagine how great this will be.
This is his second time working with the non profit for ovarian cancer research and awareness. Carmen himself, come to find out is a survivor of Colon Cancer. What a way to give back to the cause.
His fashions are seen all over the runway, and in all major department stores in Boston. He is not doing a Bryant Park Show this year, so I guess this is what will take the place of that show. A retrospective show of the past 20 years under his own label will kickoff his 20th Anniversary...very exciting.
Found the website of the non profit to purchase tickets and more information... www.ovationsforthecure.org
Just thought I would let anyone know who was interested in attending an event like this for a good cause!

None-too-shockingly, Jonas Stein of Turbo Fruits (formerly of Be YourOwn Pet) turns out to be a pretty chill guy. After all, the dude’s written more songs about weed than I care to list right now.
