Apparently, pirating, downloading and leaking has managed to make music "better." In the constant stream of new releases, every now and then, the industry strikes gold. Beach House's third album, Teen Dream, creeped onto the internet in early November and while everyone was scrounging to get a leaked copy, everyone else painfully resisted putting the album on their top-10 lists for the year—and perhaps even for the decade. It's been a while since I could confidently declare a band amazing, but little did I know Baltimore's dream-pop duo would steal my heart—not once, not twice but three times. After releasing Devotion in early 2008, the band set the bar high for themselves and everyone looking for a seat on the dream-pop bandwagon. Two years later, Teen Dream captures the innocence of teendom and the magic of novelty without getting too ambient folky for their own good. I mean, who knew a song about a black-and-white horse could change my world. I don't even like horses, but indeed, I love Beach House.

Copeland/ I Can Make A Mess at Middle East 3/6/10

The Middle East is a great venue when it's kind of full--but it can be a mess when it's completely sold out.
