Huume Recordings is run by Sasu Ripatti, who is also Luomo, Sistol and Uusitalo. No, that isn't l33t-speak, that's Finnish. He's also Mr. Vladislav Delay and after a bit of wrangling with the much deceased (and mourned over) Force Inc. record label, he's got his paws on 2001's Anima, an all-time classic of the onomatopoetically-named clicks & cuts genre. A deep techno ambient masterwork, Ripatti's 62-minute bubbling, synthetic piece seems to change imperceptibly like a cloud. Perfect for the bath or the beach, but it's even more perfect if you are Dr. Ballard piloting the $5 Million JASON submarine around the wreckage of the Titantic looking at 9-foot sea worms that no one has ever seen before. Anima seems randomly-generated, with pulses and burbles falling out at indiscriminate times, keeping your senses heightened but your mind at rest. If I was a synaesthete, this would look like a Skittles-colored waterfall in Kool-Aid land.
