This ridonkulous CD, complete with full-color photo booklet and fold out packaging, goes way over the top to tell us one thing: Baile Funk is just getting started. If all these guys got on a boat and landed in, say, New Orleans, they'd have a 10 million strong dance party going in a week. The local connection is curator Gregg Scruggs, who, after tutelage from Harvard music master Wayne Marshall, took a series of trips to the second-best music country on earth and worked with the baile community to ensure they got proper credit and cash. So, not only is this set packed with post-Baile booty bouncers from Brazil, it's also loaded with good karma. The music is the sound of life, the beat of the poor and the earnest voice of original artists. There are also lyrics galore. Just buy it already. Oh, and first-best is Jamaica, duh.

“One of the most heart breaking things for me is the great number of homeless veterans,” said Ralph Cooper, executive director of Veterans Benefits Clearinghouse. “As you can tell, I’m getting older and my gray hair tells the truth. You can’t imagine how painful it is for me to talk with men and women who served in Vietnam, men and women who are young, coming back from Afghanistan and Iraq and they are homeless. How disgraceful is that?”
