THE AMERICAN MALL

HSM MTV BFD SHLOCK ROCK

By DAVID DAY

DVD_AmericanMall

There are so many nails in the coffin of rock & roll, it's starting to look like a telephone pole in Allston. But now that the creators of High School Musical have gotten hold of a hammer, expect splinters. American Mall is replete with crowd surfing, fist pumping and more chants than a sold-out Piebald show. Every time a punk rock mannerism is co-opted, a gutter punk loses their safety pins. This MTV Studios travesty is like a combination of HSM and Bye Bye Birdie, except it all takes place inside a mall, where, apparently, "all your dreams can come true." The perfectly manicured and preened cast members never miss a beat, like good goose-stepping fascists. "Love and dreams are not for sale" is the tagline, which is true: They have already been purchased by Paramount, and it looks like they got them at a steep discount.

RIP PRECESSION HELLO UNFLATION

By dayvidday on Mon, Dec 1, 2008 1:42 pm

OMG! It's official! For a few months now, we've been onto the idea of a "precession," a span of time wherein the economic powers that be flatly refuse to call anything a "recession." We assumed this had something to do with Dick Cheney's political whopper and pressure to not to claim the recession started with Bush.

Actual Citibank Term Sheet

From Dealbreaker, what is reportedly the actual term sheet for the Citibank bailout.

FWIW, to my reading we're kinda screwing them, which is A-OK in my book
