DARK CITY (DIRECTOR'S CUT)

By RAPHAEL LUCKOM

DVD_DarkCity

I hate that when I'm 60, all the kids are going to think the Wachowski brothers invented cyberpunk. Dark City is a good argument to the contrary, driven by stunning visuals, a solid cast and a decidedly warped imagination. John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) has to solve a series of murders in a fantastical city while being pursued by the police and "The Strangers," a group of sinister psychokinetic pale guys. Along the way he finds his wife, Emma (Jennifer Connelly, rowr), and Dr. Daniel Schreber (Keifer Sutherland), with whom he must find a place called Shell Beach to free the dark city from these Strangers. Along the way, he comes to an astonishing realization about himself and the nature of his universe. With an average shot-length under two seconds, director Alex Proyas balances the cult film between visual chaos and order, for a grimy, grisly sci-fi noir.

RIP PRECESSION HELLO UNFLATION

By dayvidday on Mon, Dec 1, 2008 1:42 pm

OMG! It's official! For a few months now, we've been onto the idea of a "precession," a span of time wherein the economic powers that be flatly refuse to call anything a "recession." We assumed this had something to do with Dick Cheney's political whopper and pressure to not to claim the recession started with Bush.

Actual Citibank Term Sheet

From Dealbreaker, what is reportedly the actual term sheet for the Citibank bailout.

FWIW, to my reading we're kinda screwing them, which is A-OK in my book
