Back in 2007, Machete was nothing more than a bang-bang-shoot-'em-up trailer that ran before Grindhouse, the blood-soaked, blockbuster double feature from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. In two minutes, Rodriguez makes a modern-day Mexican revolutionary out of Danny Trejo by offering up a plot rife with the tension of the illegal immigration controversy in the southwestern United States.
